ANTIQUE FAIR IN AREZZO
{mosimage}Born in 1968, thanks to an Ivan Bruschi's idea, The Antique Fair of Arezzo was the first monthly antique exibition ever made to gain a sustained success over the time.

In the days of the Antique Fair Piazza Grande, surrounded by palaces and crenellated towers, dominated by the amount of the austere Romanesque church and surrounded by the "Logge" designed by Vasari, she return to be "market" made of people, stalls, antique dealers, collectors  and, of course, of tourists. The courtyards and the funds of the buildings, the Logge, they are fulfilled with visitors. The shops are revived and benches filled with items of every type, invade the streets and alleys, villages and town squares throughout the historic core, transforming the character of the city.
The regular Exhibitors are now more than 500, coming from all over Italy and offer their items with a very broad overview of cultural traditions and costumes.
Thanks to the success of the outdoor exibition the shops of the antique restorers have multiplied. Today in Arezzo there are more than 100 antique shops, a number that in thirty years of Fair was almost ten-fold, in fact in 1968 in the heart of the town there were not more than fifteen.
They will, in many cases, reflects the same diversity that is found in Antique furniture, paintings and objects that vary between them, not only for age but also in quality, are mixed in a "disorderly", leaving the visitor the pleasure of discovery.
Apart from these stores of researchers and collectors, many shops display selected pieces of high quality and offer greater specialization for collectors and connoisseurs: furniture and furnishings, religious subjects, paintings of all time, jewelry, watches silverware, books and prints, pieces of modern art, scientific instruments, radios and gramophones, musical instruments, toys.

From the October 2001 ther's a new project for the promotion and communication and its goal is to make more exciting the visit to the Fair, besides to make more comfortable the sojourn in the town, with the help of some events designed to attract more and more audience.
Every first Sunday of the month (and preceding Saturday), are more than 20,000, in some cases even 30,000 people who visit on an average every event.
The research of the precious object, to the curiosity, to the missing "piece" in a valuable collection, it opens during the evening before the opening of the market - when the goods are still packed on trucks - and it closes, often after heated negotiations, in the sunset on Sunday.
As witnesses the American writer Frances Mayes in her book "Beautiful Tuscany" you can certainly say that in every house around Arezzo, starting from Rome on the way toward Florence, there is surely an object, a painting or a piece of art, found and purchased at Antique Fari in Arezzo, the oldest, the largest.
